What I Offer
Individual Therapy
I incorporate evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into my practice, while also ensuring that each client’s personal culture, history, life experiences, and present reality are taken into account. I work with you 1-1 during this time as we work towards your therapy goals.
Safe and Supportive Environment
I believe in creating a safe and confidential environment, I also aim to ensure that my clients and I have mutual communication free of judgement. I encourage continuous two-way conversation throughout the therapy process.
To Do List(s)
Don’t worry – it’s not as intense as it sounds. What I mean by this is that during the therapy process, we will have the opportunity to learn about specific interventions, coping mechanisms, etc. that you can then put into practice outside of therapy. You’ll then be able to share with me what you feel is working, and what isn’t working. This will help us with working towards your therapy goals.
Resources
I provide resources for you to keep in order to help you put into practice the things you learn in therapy.
I will also periodically have recommendations under this tab for books, other businesses and such that you may be interested in!
Therapy for Parents and Adolescents
I offer therapy for parents with children ages 3-10, who struggle with behavioral and emotional regulation. I also offer therapy for adolescents 11+ years old.
Emotional Support Animal Letters
I am able to determine if I can write this letter after 3 sessions upon request. The reason for this is that over the span of at least 3 sessions, I will have the opportunity to assess and evaluate the need and benefits of having an ESA. Please note that it is not a guarantee.

The Who and the Why
Hi, I’m Muldarde Fortune, or ‘M’ for short! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with years of experience in different settings, including inpatient psychiatric care, mental health therapy, case management, and hospital emergency rooms. My approach to therapy includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Practices, and more. I’ve had the privilege of providing therapeutic care in places like New York, Oregon, and even China. Working with diverse communities, and being a Caribbean American myself, has deepened my understanding of different cultures and life experiences, allowing me to offer care that truly respects your unique background and personal journey.
I currently offer therapy for parents, adults, and teenagers – which brings me to the why. Why therapy? Speaking from personal experience and from watching others around me, be it loved ones, the community, or the people I see on TV, life has a way of humbling us when we least expect it. Whether it’s the negative – spiraling thoughts, the endless anxiety attacks, the nightmares that come on suddenly and prevent us from getting decent sleep, the feelings of shame for not being where we want to be or where we thought we’d be at this point in our lives, or perhaps even the countless comparisons we make between ourselves and other people’s “perfect” lives that only serves to worsen our mood, self-esteem and sense of self-worth… and if you’re a parent, perhaps, the comparisons made between your kiddo(s) and that of your friends and the nagging feeling that you can’t get their behavior back on track… let’s face it, life gets hard. It gets depressing. It gets stressful. It gets tiring. Therapy offers the opportunity to break things down, see things from a different, a healthier – and many times, a more realistic, way. It is a space to slow down, gain perspective, and start making the changes you want. It’s about prioritizing your well-being and that of your loved ones. If any of this resonates with you, let’s connect! Reach out via phone or email, and let’s see if we’re a good fit to start this journey together!
What Sets Me apart
Personalized Approach
I understand that each individual is unique, and so are their therapeutic needs. I provide personalized, holistic, therapy that is tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of each client. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, but rather, I take the time to understand your unique circumstances and tailor our therapeutic approach accordingly.
Culturally Sensitive Care
I understand the delicate, beautiful, and complex nature of embracing various cultures. As a Haitian American, I also understand when to, and how to, approach therapy from a collectivistic/familial or individualistic perspective. This also includes embracing various religious backgrounds, racial identities, etc. in the therapeutic process.
Short-Term and Long-Term Therapy
I have a task-oriented approach to therapy that could benefit clients who are seeking to have a finite and short-term, therapy experience. This approach ensures that therapy is not an endless process, but one that is focused on achieving specific, measurable outcomes. I am also able to provide long-term therapy to clients who feel ready to dive deep into the self-exploration journey and who may need a more continuous therapeutic support system while dissecting complex issues.
Wide Range of Services
I offer a wide range of therapy services for different age groups and needs, including therapy for parents with children who struggle with behavioral and emotional regulation, therapy for adults seeking to change their outlook on their present realities, and therapy for adolescents dealing with PTSD/PTSD symptoms.
